WikiJET:New skin
From WikiJET, the interactive website for the JET Programme
The old Wikipedia-style skin that was in use has had a complete makeover courtesy of the wonderful people at Wikia. WikiJET is now using the new Sapphire "skin" over the top of the MediaWiki software that everyone is so familiar with. I think it looks fantastic and is a great improvement. None of the inner mechanics of the website have changed, so any users of Wikipedia should have no problems adapting to the new look. Anyway, if you don't understand any of that technobabble then don't worry: here are the new changes.
[edit] Choose your own skin
Unregistered users will by default see the new Sapphire skin. If you are still seeing the old Wikipedia-style Monobook skin then click "try new skin" in the top right of the screen. Registered users will be able to change the way the website looks by choosing their preferred skin. Just log in and click on your username at the top of the screen to pull up the drop-down box. Click "My preferences" and choose a skin as you like.
[edit] Widgets
Another option available from the drop-down box is "Manage widgets". Clicking this will make a row of icons appear under the title bar of the article you are looking at. By clicking and dragging these icons to the navigation bar on the right hand side of the screen, different information boxes will be displayed. In this way you can customise the look and order in which information about the wiki is displayed to you.
[edit] Rate and Share it
Two new features can be found at the bottom of each article in the coloured bar: "Rate it" and "Share it". The Rate it feature consists of a row of five stars. Clicking on these stars from 1 to 5 will assign the article a personal rating which will be recorded on the server. These ratings are collected from all users of the website and the most popular articles can be viewed through one of the widgets mentioned above.
The "Share it" links at the right of the coloured bar allow you to share the article you are reading with a friend via e-mail, or with the rest of the world via the web bookmarking websites del.icio.us, Digg and Stumple Upon.
