Ono (大野町 Ono-cho?) is a small town located in the center of Gifu Prefecture with a population of about 25,000 people. It is 20-30 minute bus ride/drive north of Ogaki city and about the same distance to the north-west of Gifu city. It's a beautiful small town sporting not only the usual numerous rice fields of rural Japan but a number of persimmon (kaki) groves as well.
To/from the airportEdit
Probably the most convenient airport would be the Nagoya Central Japan Airporta mere 30 minutes from Nagoya, Aichi-ken by train. Nagoya is about 30 minutes from Gifu city or Ogaki city respectively. These are the two nearest large train stations and you'll need to take the bus that runs from Ono Bus Station to get to either station.
The Ono-cho train station closed a few years ago.
Ono-cho has a good bus station with buses running to the nearest major centers, Ogaki and Gifu city, as well as a number of nearby areas. Bus service is fairly regular between the house of 6 am and 8-9 pm. It's about 700 yen for a one-way trip to Ogaki or Gifu.
Ono keeps two ALTs for its Elementary and JHS positions. One ALT goes to the larger JHS and two elementaries and the other goes to the smaller JHS and four elementaries. Both are municipal positions and are supervied by the Ono BOE.
The 1 JHS 2 Elementary ALT is leaving in the summer of 2011. If you happen to be the new JET-to-be please contact Dragyn
