Kawatana is a small town on the bay located 30 minutes south of the Sasebo City downtown by train. It has one high school, a school for the physically disabled, a junior high and three elementary schools. It is a small town with one train station, and is on the main line so the train will always stop there. There is also a bus center that has an airport shuttle making traveling by plane easier. There is also a bus stop in a town nearby, Hasami, that has a highway bus that goes all the way to Fukuoka. Fukuoka can also be reach by train as well. Although it is a small town, it is well connected to its neighboring towns and prefectures.
There is a nice sense of community here and any ALT would be lucky to be placed here.
